1M291".Ĭondition: Excellent plus with 99% plus original finish, showing very slight sharp edge wear on the tops of the sights and muzzle end of the slide, with a few scattered very minor scratches. This pistol has a blue finish magazine marked on the bottom of the base "19200-/ASSY 5508694/MFR. It is fitted with a proper blue finish barrel marked with the "P" proof on the left side and "HS", indicating High Standard manufacture, on the right side of the lug. It has the checkered stamped trigger, checkered hammer with narrow spur, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch, serrated arched mainspring housing with nine grooves and Keyes Fibre grips with the narrow reinforcement ring around the screw holes, mold numbers 23 and 27. Atwood with a "P" near the magazine release. The left side of the frame is stamped with "FJA" the inspector mark for Frank J. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole.
The right side of the frame is stamped with an Ordnance Wheel cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number behind the slide stop hole and "M 1911 A1 U.S. U.S.A." and the "P" proof is marked on top centered between the ejection port and rear sight. The left side of the slide is marked with the third type legend "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. According to sources the last pistol manufactured by Remington-Rand was numbered 2,465,139, this pistol being numbered 2,445,999. That being said, the slide and frame are a matched set, both Remington Rand. The price reflects this is not a completely original gun. Honestly, I wish he would have left it original but to each, his own. My uncle used the pistol in many competitions over the years. Pachmyer did an amazing job with the Royal bluing, tuned the action and installed an adjustable trigger, adjustable target sights, polished the hammer and internals.
